    Did i kill my motor?

So, I thought I had more oil in the motor than I did. It ran fine, I had it running for maybe 30 seconds, heard a screeching sound, turned it off. Added more oil. It wouldn't start again (14hp B&S electric start). I pulled the engine cover off, I could turn the flywheel, not easily, but I could...

Starter gear not moving below the flywheel.

So, I still am fiddling with transplanting a B&S 287707 onto my old Snapper that had a pull start. My starter, the previous owner replaced the gear on it, but I've noticed with it sitting there the gear isnt returning to the 'down' position away from the flywheel. Is this a function that would...

    Bare bones engine wiring?

So I'm taking an electric start motor (B&S 287707) from a yard tractor and putting it in an old Snapper RER that was pull start. The wiring... is a foreign concept to me. I take it I need to: Ground motor to chassis Wire starter to hot battery post with a momentary switch in line somewhere...

I can't get this thing oooooffffff!!!!

No matter what I do I can't seem to get this dang keyed shaft and pulleys off. I can't find anyone with a bearing breaker or I'd dry that. The gear puller is pushing so hard it's bending the pulleys, and I'm worried about how hard it's pushing the crankshaft in. Am I going to have to cut this...

Shaft size mismatch on the engine and mower it's going on...

Ok, so I have a Snapper rear engine Hi Vac. Think it was made in 1978. Came with an 8hp B&S with a 1"x3-5/32" Shaft. I bought a mower with a 14 hp B&S model 287707. Got them both off and the new shaft is thicker. Not a huge problem seeing how I'll be replacing the whole motor, but the single...
