    Refurbished lawnmower

There is a man who lives a few villages away from me who takes in old lawnmowers, petrol and electric, and refurbishes them. He then sells them on. Would you trust a lawnmower like this to last?

I almost got to ride a mower!

I've just been to my local pub and the owner was telling me that he seriously considered buying a ride on mower to keep the grounds mowed. I even offered to operate it for him as my lawn is far too small to justify me buying one,and I have always wanted one, but he has decided to hire a gardener...

    Hiring a gardener

I'm seriously thinking of hiring a man to come and tidy my garden this year. It's mainly grass but I have fruit trees and bushes too and I've let it get out of hand. Do you always do your own gardening?

When should I treat my lawn?

Now that I can see my lawn again I despair! I used some "weed and feed" last year to remove the moss and clover but it still looks patchy. When's the best time of year to treat it?

How do they manage to clear the airports in places like Canada and Alaska where they have tons of snow every year yet they can't mange to keep the airports open in England when it snows?

    How to kill brambles?

I have discovered a load of brambles at the bottom of my back garden. At the moment they are beyond the lawn, behind a wooden fence in a fairly neglected part of the garden but, if I leave them, they will eventually encroach on the lawn. What's the best way to kill them?

    Salt for weeds

I built a patio with paving slabs and my pathways around the lawns are also paving slabs. I am forever weeding between the slabs but I just read somewhere that if you put salt between the cracks it will inhibit weed growth. Has anyone actually done this and can say that it works? I have a bag of...

    Oh no, slate!

My sister has just had her lawn dug up and covered the whole area with blue slate! She didn't tell me until after she did it and I can understand why she did it as pushing a mower is hard for her at her age but I'd rather have a lovely lush green garden outside my window than an ugly blue slate...
