Abused Craftsman push mower- Wheels are angled inward at the bottom and other stuff

I got a Craftsman 917.370600 mower and all of the wheels are angled but the mounts are solid. They're easy enough to adjust, but the angle remains. I only took the time to remove the wheels to inspect, clean & lube- the spindles are angled but not bent. What's the best way to make them straight...

    Preferred dethaching attachments?

I was watching some videos showing a variety of dethaching attachments, ranging from home-made to commercially available. Any opinions? Doesn't look like rocket surgery. My mower doesn't have any provision for attaching accessories, other than some holes on the back and the small draw bar the...

How do you prep your mowers for Winter storage?

I don't have enough space in my garage and the city wanted too much $ for permits and inspection to build a bump-out, so I need to store my mower on the slab behind my garage, covered. I stored my snow blowers there, under a tarp, and they're fine. I have serviced boats for a long time and...

Removing the discharge chute- why not a locking nut?

I managed to do something that required my removing the chute and it has that stupid little retainer- why didn't they use a bolt and nylock nut? I know, I know, "Cost down", but c'mon!

    Which replacement tires to use?

I have an Ariens 42" riding mower and the front tires don't have much tread so they slip on hard turns- do the least expensive replacements last long, or should I spend a few bucks more and buy something else? It has Carlysle tires now. Rims are spotless, so I'll just replace the tires.

Good value torque wrenches without breaking the bank?

I had been rebuilding a Trek road bike and don't have a torque wrench that can read inch-lb, so I used the 'good and snug' method but last week, I got an Ariens riding mower with a bad head gasket and the torque is more important for reinstalling the head. I had bought a Pittsburgh wrench from...

Ariens 42" riding mower headlight wiring- bad design

New guy here, first time with a mower that has a drink holder. I got a 42" riding mower a couple of days ago that needs things (head gasket, who knows what else after that?) and so far, I haven't seen the headlight operating, so I looked at a schematic and it shows that it "has a special...
