    Yawzya that's expensive.

One of the things I wish these muffler guys would do is cut some vertical bracing webbing welded between the flange and the muffler body. That's a hell of an overhang just sitting there bouncing up and down and vibrating cracks right into the muffler body and flange welds.

    Exmark Kawasaki FX730V not starting

Reason I asked about the "struggle to start" issue is because most of the starters on small engines look like they're well sealed but are not. Because of the dusty, litter ridden environment material always seems to work it's way into the case and the dirt will cause the starter to slow down and...

Also, my 730 water cooled likes choke when cold and no choke when warm. Just depends on the degree of "warmness". Also had a problem with the original Kawasaki coil wires....they are carbon track "wires" meaning that there is a carbon impregnated string that forms the current carrying member of...

    Exmark Kawasaki FX730V not starting

Gas in oil is highly unlikely. Your timing should be fixed but the coil to face is slightly variable. Make sure there is no rubbing of the flywheel against the coils. It'll still run but not the way the parts should be set up. Business card is a good approximation.

    Starter shaft stuck/tight

Highly unlikely the field failed as described. Starters are not fully sealed units. Dust and dirt make their way into the interior. Take the starter apart. Clean it out, blow it out, clean up the commutator, check brush length/condition, lubricate the plain bearings if so equipped and the shaft...

Intermittent Magnum Mower deck starting issue

Pay attention to the amp rating of the fuse that manages that circuit. If higher than the upgraded 10 amp switch then you should be good. If not, fuses protect the wiring not the devices attached .

    2015 Toro v-twin won't start

Just running a compression test tells you nothing of condition of the internals. You'd need a differential tester to determine where the compression is going after the valves close. Adjusting a poorly seated valve only gets you a properly adjusted valve that won't hold compression. All of this...

Back firing and after firing at the same time.

Damn hard to replace carbon track when they are moulded into the coil housing. There is a screw in the cap that screws about 3/4" up into the cable...nothing gets "peeled back".

Back firing and after firing at the same time.

The Kawasaki coil wires are carbon track units and they have had problems with continuity before. Ask me how I know. The plug boot connectors are just crimped around the cable with a small spike penetrating the sheath to contact the carbon coated string. Check these as well. I have replaced mine...

Pump belt and "spec" belt numbers.....

Both may be too short. 5/8" top sticks up above the stock sheeve and the effective length thus decreases. The bottom line is the top of the belt should be even with or just below the top level of the sheeve as there is not a lot of room coming off the tension pulley where the belt faces pass. I...
