Best place to buy rings for my GXV120 motor

Make sure everything is available before ordering, I could not find gaskets.

Symptoms of a faulty pressure relief system on K301 Kohler

Check your valve clearances, should be .010" on both. If tthe ACR has failed (unlikely) you need a new camshaft.

Trouble finding a small engine machine shop in Texas

The shops do not like to rebore aluminum cylinders and for good reason. It is time consuming and the operator needs to know what he is doing. Also make sure the shop follows the engine manufacturers specs, boring a small air cooled to automotive tolerances guarantees an early failure.

B&S ignition coil on old 8 vertical

I suggest avoiding the aftermarket coils, imho they are not worth the time and aggravation.

Trouble finding a small engine machine shop in Texas

None lleft in our area. I did years ago but it is no longer cost effective to rebuild the smaller engines, the local techs have no idea how to do it.

    eXmark engine

I was looking at a Toro z-turn and am not at all happy with the clone engine, Kohler, Briggs and Stratton and others have spent millions developing and marketing their products only to have an offshore sweatshop produce knockoffs for a fraction of their cost. John Ruskin wrote the bitterness of...

    Briggs 5hp with no blade

I am surprised it will start without the blade, it probably tried to rip the handle out of your fingers. Drilling out the jet will just make a bad situation worse.

any body going to lobby day in richmond va tommorow???

I would stay as far from that as possible. All it would take is one nut full of beer and testosterone.

MTD models would likely have the Powermore engine which have not earned my confidence.

    11 hp Briggs&Straton motor off a generator

Go easy with that startihng fluid, it will destroy aluminum cylinder walls. Obviously the carb is still plugged somewhere but we need the engine model and type to make an informed diagnosis. Not your question but a generator engine is not the best choice for your application. You will either...

    IC opposed twin

That is normal in small amounts, the breather is doing its job. If it starts pushing oil then the engine needs major attention.

California considers a statewide ban on gas powered lawn equipment.

That is ludicrous but typical of the granola state which is full of fruits, nuts, and flakes. Some lawmakers need to get out of their downtown high rises and experience reality. I enjoy visiting the place but sure couldn't live there.

I acquired a Honda with a similar problem, the clutch was clogged with grass.

I have seen commercial mowers in the shop with blades like that. Obviously the operator wasn't overly attentive but I guess that is to be expected from a 17 year old on minimum wage.

If he can get $250 more power to him but it is sure not worth that to me. 100 bucks tops!

    Corrosion from Calcium Loaded Tires

I once worked at a farm equipment dealership, hated pumping out tractor tires so flats could be repaired then refilling them. The nasty stuff ruined coveralls and sure got my attention in burns or cuts. A lot of farmers now use beet juice. I doubt foam will give you the weight you need.

    Sirometer-vibra tach

I have checked it against a Stihl electronic tach and it is certainly close enough for my purposes. Nothing to go wrong as long as it is not dropped or stepped on.

    Convert to float type carb?

What is happening that you need to replace carbs? They generally don't give a lot of problems and are easy to service.

    WD40

It works but other products specifically designed for cleaning are more effective. It is flammable, I used it to keep engines running (with a lot of white smoke) while priming the fuel system. I never had a problem with it on rubber or plastic.

    Greetings All

I am new here but not to the small engine world. I started pulling wrenches in 1975, didn't know any better, and retired 4 years ago after a stint as sales and tech rep for the Canadian Briggs distributor. I am now working part time for a local dealer to keep my hand in it and stay current. I...
