Intermittent Magnum Mower deck starting issue

The PTO switch takes quite an amperage hit when activated so I'd look there. And the current to the clutch is all or nothing when the switch is thrown. I used to have the same problem but cured it mostly by adding this...

    PTO/Clutch Issue

Imagine a face palm image right about here. Put in another fuse? Damn thing is trying to tell you something is shorted but, no, put in another one just to make sure. Then another. Then one with a higher amperage. Let's burn up the damn wiring too. Speaking of which...stop fixating on the clutch...

    2015 Toro v-twin won't start

Just running a compression test tells you nothing of condition of the internals. You'd need a differential tester to determine where the compression is going after the valves close. Adjusting a poorly seated valve only gets you a properly adjusted valve that won't hold compression. All of this...

Back firing and after firing at the same time.

Damn hard to replace carbon track when they are moulded into the coil housing. There is a screw in the cap that screws about 3/4" up into the cable...nothing gets "peeled back".

Back firing and after firing at the same time.

The Kawasaki coil wires are carbon track units and they have had problems with continuity before. Ask me how I know. The plug boot connectors are just crimped around the cable with a small spike penetrating the sheath to contact the carbon coated string. Check these as well. I have replaced mine...

Nothing wrong with the old pulley 🤔. Betcha you can find someone to spot weld it back. Failing a spot weld, there is always the rosette method. Pump belt and "spec" belt numbers.....

Both may be too short. 5/8" top sticks up above the stock sheeve and the effective length thus decreases. The bottom line is the top of the belt should be even with or just below the top level of the sheeve as there is not a lot of room coming off the tension pulley where the belt faces pass. I...

John deere gx75, scratching my head.

Before you buy another coil check continuity of the spark plug lead to the cap. A lot of these are carbon track plug wires meaning they have a carbon coated string as a conductor. And the carbon is dust. Over time the dust migrates out of the crimped connectors and then no spark. Damned seldom...

    Ignition coil

Coils so seldom "go bad". What does go bad in some cases is the plug cable....specifically the carbon core type. There is a carbon impregnated string that carries the electrical load and often the string's crimp contact with the plug connector isn't the best. I've fixed several with the...
