Check the valve clearance. While you are at it check the compression release. Turn the engine over and watch the bottom rocker to see if it bumps off just before it reaches top dead center.

Air filters that have a screen over the paper can be oiled if done properly. Filters that do not have the screen over the paper should never be oiled.

Hold the governor link so the engine idles if it dies it is dirt in the idle circuit of the carb.

The ign switch does not supply power to the ignition modules. In the off position it grounds the kill circuit. In the run position it opens the kill circuit and does not ground it and kill the engine.

like ILENGINE said most of the time the bolt is not tight when they break off and turn out easily. You can try a left hand drill bit and if it hangs in the bolt it will spin it right out.

Don't do much work on Honda engines. Distributor s##ks. Can get parts through other sources at times. Honda carbs are so cheap it doesn't pay to work on them just replace. Any way their parts look up s##ks as well.

I have found if I am going to leave the fuel line off the carb for any length of time. I will take a yellow wire nut that is smoothe and plug the fuel line. Works great and not pinching the fuel line.

Kohler Relkoh has a engine plant in China and have had for years. Looks like mostly the horizontal engines.

Nova 2 makes a chip to replace the points and condensor on small engines. They work on most all point type ignitions. Install it and if it doesn't fire switch the wires. Most of the time this will work. I have used them on the old cast Iron Kohler engines. You can get them at Amazon.

Have a Tanaka TBC340 trimmer I bought in 2004 have always used non-ethanol fuel in it and have never done a carb job on it. Go out prime it choke and it starts right up. Runs like a champ.

TDC on the compression stroke is the only place both valves are fully closed at the same time. Briggs says piston 1/4 inch past TDC.

Briggs 104M02-0005-F1 engine on a Snapper walk behind 12AVB2A2707 SER 1K195K31260. Customer brought it in and said it sounds like it is knocking and low on power. Sounds like the knock sound is coming from the carb. Any idea what it might be.

Cylinder leak down test is probably the best test you can run to determin the problem.

Have you tried taking the fuel line off past the filter to see if fuel flows through the filter?

25 050 21-s Is the Kohler filter for the gravity flow system. It is the filter I use on the non-fuel pump systems. If you use the 24 050 13-s it is a 10 micron filter and the engine could run for short peroids of time and shut off.
