Craftsman LT 4500 26HP Briggs Stratton Intek Both Pistons not moving

Is the engine still on the mower? Is the starter spinning the flywheel? (You seem to indicate that you can turn the flywheel?) Does the PTO end of the crank turn when the flywheel turns? Was the engine running when it happened or did you just go to start the engine and failure? Reason I ask is...

    New Carb Surges

Yes sometimes this is required for the Al Gore carbs. The tiny micro bits #61-80 is what you need with the chuck. turn them slow by hand. If you mess up the jet you can sometimes find them here https://sawzillaparts.com/

    New Carb Surges

I've had fair luck with the 2 cycle weed eater, leaf blower carbs and one barrel Nikki carbs. I have not had any good luck with the 2 barrel Nikki's Usually have the option of free returns if they do not work correctly.

    Won't start

You ask what you should look for next? Look for a tractor model number and the engine model, type and code and post the info on here. Also look for a Volt Ohm meter or DMM. We can then provide you with some logical info.

    Honda Generator no power

I've got a service manual on a Honda EG1400 and if no AC voltage it indicates to check for 12v DC at the brushes. (with the engine running at 3700 rpm's) If it has 12vDC check the condition of the brushes and slip rings and also check the rotor resistance as around 15-18 ohms reading across the...

    New Carb Surges

Appears you may have misunderstood what Star Tech is saying. There is a o ring INSIDE the metal shell on the solenoid and you cannot replace just the o ring. the whole solenoid assembly has to be replaced. To get an idea of such the whole metal outer shell with the terminal assembly when on the...

    Smokes like a chimney

Just a general arm chair opinion: The spark plug cylinder on the left in the picture is the suspect cylinder when doing a compression or leakdown COMPARISON test. Comparing the left oily/carbon/fouled spark plug cylinder to the right plug's cylinder. The right plug is worn out but no need in...

    Magnitos keep failing

But what about isolating the mag by running the kill wire through a horn button then to the engine block? Will that work? Yes, or disconnect the existing wires at the head light switch (isolated their ends by tapeing) and use ithe on/off headlight switch as you describe as a horn switch as a...

Anyone tried this.... Poor mans power steering.

Can you explain/comment further on what would be your concerns about adding the needle bearings and causing a possible quick failure? (like maybe failure of the Chink bearings from dirt/dust or?)

It should help reduce the wear on the steering sector area.

    Magnitos keep failing

I've got some of the Simpson 260's and 160's. I can repair and calibrate them oldies. The precision parts are getting scarce from Simpson. I prefer them analog type meters for Ohms testing but the DMM's for voltage testing. Usually what wipes them out is not paying attention and trying to read...

    Smokes like a chimney

Like fish says it might just be a head gasket. Can you remove both spark plugs and see if only one is black oily? If only one is oily black it might be worth having someone look at the head gasket on that side but maybe do a leak down test first comparing one cylinder to the other. You can...

    New Carb Surges

What is strange is the fuel solenoid itself USUALLY does not leak/drip unless it's loose, cross threaded or the little thin metal seal gasket is not installed or it's been somehow bent/mutilated/molested and damaged. About your questions. Yes you can try swapping the fuel solenoids if they are...

    New Carb Surges

You say: Reason I replace was because the fuel shutoff solenoid started leaking. What were the symptoms of this? Was it leaking externally at the bottom of the bowl or was you getting gas into the oil or what?????????

    It can't be this easy.

    Oil in Spark Plug Cylinder

I use a leak down tester quite often. I can test new to me non running engines on a test bench before even trying to fix them for a run test. Lets me know if they are worth the effort to get running. I've found bad valves, bad rings, bad head gaskets on non-running engines. I have a OTC. HF...

    Oil in Spark Plug Cylinder

If the next one leaks take notice of the area of leakage. Sometimes you can flat sand a head on a piece of glass and see the area of warpage and sand it flat again but if it's the block you might have to try two gaskets and not the weak China Amazon types.

    407777 0124e1 carburetor float

Just some general info about the Anti backfire solenoid (ABS) you mention. Sometimes the solenoid pintle can be free'ed up by using a penetrating oil and gently pushing and slightly twisting the pintle valve stem. It is slightly spring loaded outwards and uses voltage to retract. You also have...

    Head gasket

    Governor surging carb.

Briggs 14hp IC not running right

You eliminated quite a bit of stuff. What I would think about doing is check the valve lift. compare the exhaust push rod left to the intake. Compare the lift of each to each other. Briggs 14hp IC not running right

Yep, post model type and code. Manually move the throttle plate to the wide open [position. This will normally bypass any governor control. If it then speeds up you will need to do a static governor adjust. If that is a Twin make sure that both cylinders are producing power EQUALLY.

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

That 33 series Briggs was a lemon from the start. Experience is what you get when what you bought is not what you wanted.
