126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

Your favored plug for the 500cc briggs is what? A good spark plug eases the strain on everything on the engine, starter, battery,me. :-D

126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

Is this just another case of cost cutting, buyer be damned? Glazing the porcelain would add to the cost so why do it if the plug will last a season! As for me, I'm happy with my Briggs and Stratton branded spark plugs.

126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

I was recommended this plug for my Briggs engines by a pro mower guy. He says it is way more resistant to carbon fouling and misfiring. He has a gang of summer workers that are NTB and will over-choke an engine until it starts to sputter and sputter and foul a regular copper plug. I have had no...

Sorry...I'll edit out my surprise at that price per quart. I have Prime, but still seems like a lot of $$$ to pour into a Briggs, though. This is for 4 quarts,my price.

Air conditioner leak detection dye should be a good use here. It's made to go in lubricant oil. I am reminded of the rolling in flour and look for the wet spot ,looking for leaks. The dye is less messy.

$15.00 a gallon for the T6 Shell. Add another $10.00 for the full synthetic. I change according to Briggs recommendations, but usually sooner.

    Mower Safety

I just saw an advertisement on TV for Gorilla Tape and the tape makers were suggesting/recommending that it is just the thing to re-attach the discharge chute to your push mower. While I think the tape is a good product, I think this is irresponsible and dangerous use for the tape. Am I being...

    Oil???

So...is this B&S oil a re-labeled oil made by a major oil maker such as what I have been using? I've been using Shell Rotella diesel in my non-cat sportscar and also for my small engines. Is this oil formulated for Briggs and to their specs?

I have my serial number but it does not exist on the B&S website - or anywhere

I'd be using them for other stuff than cleaning a carb. Most all my carbs have way too small passages in them, except maybe my Carter VS.

It's not a 11 series, it's a Series 5,1984 vintage. New Rotary shifters are $18.00 free shipping. If I going to the effort to replace a lever,I'd prefer to go with new.

    NASCAR inside info for 2022

"National Association for Stock Car Racing" doesn't exist anymore. Go to your local car dealer and buy a car and go racing was 'stock' car racing. NASCAR cars today are specially built out and out RACE cars, NOT 'stock cars. They are built to be safer and faster than a stock showroom car...

    B&S 19.5 compression/ camshaft issue

I used that "covering the intake' hack, until I bought a new engine. However, as was pointed out here, there are broken pieces inside the engine that may not play nice with other parts in there. There are many 31R Briggs engines out there that have failed for different reasons besides the...

Oh,she did post a blistering reply via feedback! Even complained to the seller direct, both to no avail. We looked up the seller from the address on the box and it was for an apartment building! Amazon should, indeed,be called out when this is being done with their enablement!

Perhaps, the sellers in question deserve the shots. My wife bought some cat food on Amazon,at what she thought was a reasonable price, not great, but reasonable. Stens solenoid failure

Again,I have to totally agree with bertsmobile1. A strong starter and a poor carb needle valve + a weak design head gasket is a recipe for disaster. A stronger head gasket would not be a good solution either. Then ,if in the event of hydro lock, you'd get a bent rod or at the very least.a...

    Stens solenoid failure

    Stens solenoid failure

I agree that is usually the case. Most mower owners are not very mechanically inclined. The pesky B&S compression release that won't work with the valves out of adjustment or it being broken will damage a solenoid and starter in short order. Overdoing the cranking can and will melt the...

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

Good catch,StarTech! I need to re look at the OP's pic. My mistake. Of course both sides of the loop go through the slot. I was concentrating on the Ground wire not the choke linkage :-(ashamed)
  46. S

    Stens solenoid failure

On my mowers, when the starter solenoid fails, and the OEM ones seem to be a weak point, I replace them with a common automotive one. That cures the issue pretty much forever. Usually less expensive, too.

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

All my Briggs linkages look like this and there is no separate choke cable. When the throttle lever is moved to full wide open, the part of the linkage that is unseen in the posted pic, moves to push that loop of wire to the left (in the posted pic) to close the choke butterfly. Moving the...

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

You should use stranded automotive wire,16 to 20 gauge. This kill switch wire doesn't carry much current. Solid copper wire has no use on anything that has any vibration to it. The shaking, even a little will fatigue the wire ,leading to breakage and circuit failure.
