The problem is your standard dimensions do not apply to John Deere or MTD/Troybilt/Cub Cadet belts because of unique width., depth, and cut angle.

The cap contains charcoal. They have since around 2003-2004 when the new emissions standards started kicking in. It was one of the first thngs that took place. And the vent may not be a hole. It could just be a loose connection between two parts that allows air passage.

Parts diagram suggest that one was used. Some engined didn't come from the factory with it installed. There should be a recessed area behind the governor arm for the seal to go into from the outside.

If fluid gas has entered the charcoal canister it turns it into a solid mass which basically requires the replacement of the cap.

Most likely the vent is in the cap which also has a charcoal filter canister built into it. So the charcoal could be gas logged, and basically bricked.

Wiring loom is the wiring harness. To @Kingcat MTD is not well known to provide wiring schematics for some for their mowers, and even in some cases don't provide the entire wiring loom aka harness. One some cases the negative cable was a separate item not woven into the loom.

Could just be an aftermarket coil issue, But could also be caused by battery voltage backfeeding the coils causing them to burn out. Even momentary battery voltage at the kill tab on the coil will instantly burn them out.

And that is true with a lot of repairs now. Cost to repair is more than the mower is worth but a replacement mower is 4-10 times the cost of repair. And with the cost of everything repair is the most affordable option for most people.

Some of those units were setup as a fixed speed engine and had a rod and a nut to adjust the speed up or down for the application.

The rod in the second picture doesn't connect to the sprocket. It connect to the governor arm on the side of the engine and then the spring connects to the governor arm to control the engine speed.

Engine is from 93 which one would assume something around 93 or 94 but doesn't appear to be the original engine, since the hood and grill are from the mid 80's.

The other spindle that they used on that model after May 27 was the 918-06991, which from the pictures looks longer that the 918-04822B

Your serial number put you before May 23,2014 so your correct spindle is the 918-04822B

Something else to look at is some RTV sealants do not recommend using in the presence of oil. Some are designed for oil and other chemicals, and some are designed to seal water pumps. Need to read the packaging.

Most people don't know that the outer cover on standard fuel line is not gas proof and will break down in the presents of gas and other chemicals. If they look into submersible fuel line they would have a fit over the cost. The stuff is only $32/foot.

Does anybody have a diagram or the part number for the fuel pickup in the tank for this model. All diagrams that I am finding just show the tank only. Appears this could be another one of those parts diagrams were Husqvarna forgot part of the diagrams.

Pickup tube in the tank plugged with debris. May need to backblow on the fuel line to see if that helps. If it does then I would be cleaning the tank.
