You will have to be careful with what EFP you buy. Its buy once, cry once for a true 1 PSi electric fuel pump from a good brand. I bought a cheap one labelled as 2-3 Psi and the float couldn't handle it and started flooding.

From what I've seen, the Yanmar and Kubota 3 cyl diesels are very similar. I've got a yanmar 3 cylinder diesel in a 6x4 gator here in the shop (not my project though) and they are built with what looks to be very few differences. Thanks Auto Doc's, I'll take all the knowledge I can get :D.

Looks like you have the first starter in the diagram that startech posted. You CAN oil this one, so I would suggest you try that.

What riding mower is this on, and what is the engine model number? We can't read your mind :LOL:. Usually briggs do that when the battery is weak. I would try that first.

I have had times where an engine of mine won't start without starter fluid. It seems to go away after I use the machine for a while, just get everything flowing again. You could also look at your fuel pump, they commonly fail and sometimes pump very miserably instead of fully stopping.

I see a few things. I have been through many Husqvarna with briggs twins like yours, that definitely didn't come from this machine. The aftermarket carbs won't have a fuel mixture screw due to EPA regulations. Did you try cleaning and/or rebuilding the original Nikki carburetor? Nikkis are bad...

It's a grade of viscosity, thinner in winter as not to freeze.

It sounds like you may need a new alternator. Typically, a mower with an electric pro has a regulated alternator, which you may need to install.
