Fr730v control panel, throttle linkage and springs

I think I forgot the spring from the governor arm to the control plate to pull the throttle cable. Now that I put it on, the governor surges and the idle will not smooth out. I have a shop manual, it's confusing to me. I'll have to reread and review what I have.

Fr730v control panel, throttle linkage and springs

This control panel and linkage is difficult to do correctly if you're new to it. I'm in over my head. It seemed simple when I took it off to clean the carburetor. Now I don't have throttle control. Something is wrong here.

As the owner, that is what I'm trying to figure out. I wanted to clean up the cylinder walls prior to moving on. I've replaced the carb, same problem continues

That is good info! Some one has been around the block a few times. Stuff the average person wouldn't think about. Thanks

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

Is dark areas caused only by heat? I saw the dark spot and light scratches and thought it was ring damage!? I don't understand all the clues and hints as to what it's telling me.

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

I pulled the engine it's on my work bench now. That was what started the post. I had seen other posts about blue loctite and I had never used it before, so I was asking if I needed it and was wondering if the head bolts could be re-used. I see that is just fine and no blue loctite. Now I...

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

I ran scotchbrite around the top 1/4 inch. Only 315 hours on the machine! Some of the guys recommended decarbing the pistons at 300 hours. It had started blowing white smoke when I started it. After the first cut of the season it was smoking (white) full time. I was new to engines so I pulled...

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

I bought it new Husqvarna ts348xd with a Kawasaki fr730v. All tin and all air flow covers are in place. Never ran stripped down. Was very clean until this winter, I found a mouse nest under the covers but no run time on it.

Thanks, marking the piston is a good idea. Does a wrist pin extend that far! I have to check that out!

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

Any idea why the dark area formed and what may be causing the start of scratching? I was thinking something in the rings dragging up and down to cause the scratching.? But why the dark area, heat?

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

You can't see the light scratches just above the dark spot. You can't feel them but they are just starting to scratch the cylinder wall. Very light, no depth yet. I was hoping they would show up. I'll get some sizes in the next day or so. Looking for my i.d. micrometers and telescoping Gauges to...

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

After pulling cylinder head number 2 this is what I found!! I was shocked to find this with only 315 hours on the machine! What is this telling me? I pulled the engine and I have it on a work bench. I didn't open it up yet. Ordering rings and crank seals, should I also order seals for the governor?

Should I replace head bolts when replacing head gaskets?

I'm at 300 hours and took the heads off to clean the carbon from the pistons and check the valves. Should I replace the head bolts or re-use the original bolts? Where should I use Loctite, I was told that the blue loctite needed a primer when steel bolts go into aluminum?

Interesting twist, need advice from the pro's

The other day, I rechecked my valves. I have them around .004 If I can see them to get to top dead center of my stroke then they aren't hanging up, right? The valves are moving and good gap. Good compression around 100 to 105 psi. Can I still have a gasket issue? Don't get me wrong , I'm very...

Smokes when cold and using the choke!

I don't know what to say, my first time using it I'm just trying to understand why it's sucking so much gas, and why is it wanting to run with such a high rpm. I have what I think is good compression. 100 to maybe around 105 psi on each cylinder. Does that tell me my rings and head gasket are...

Interesting twist, need advice from the pro's

Thank you, this clears up some confusion. I did a compression test the other day and cylinder 1 is 100 psi and cylinder 2 is just over 100 maybe 105 psi. I forget what the plugs looked like, I'll recheck that today.

Interesting twist, need advice from the pro's

Was just messing with it, and it kind of holds the throttle near half throttle or greater. Then it moves and surges, and goes back to mid throttle or higher

Smokes when cold and using the choke!

I picked up a new carb, and pressure tested both new and old, they pop off at 16 to 17 psi. Cheap gauge, it could measure off a little. If I didn't need to cut my grass, this would be interesting, sure has me on YouTube every night

Interesting twist, need advice from the pro's

Sure does, I forgot to say that in my post. Had to replace the oil, twice in the last two weeks! What is sucking that much gas? It's set up for gravity feed and disconnected the governor , so I could control the idle. Most of the time, it runs fast even when the throttle is turned down all the...

I have a Husqvarna riding mower. Posted as white smoke when cold start. History I chased my tail for a couple weeks. Ended up getting a new carb and a new fuel pump. Smokes when cold and using the choke!

This morning I ran a pressure test on the carb, held 15 pounds for an hour and never moved, perfect!! Then I installed it and it still surges, so I removed the springs and linkage to the carb and ran it with no choke and no throttle. I control throttle by hand. Runs steady but will blow out...

Smokes when cold and using the choke!

I just ordered a pressure tester gauge On the walbro LMF K12 carburetor, it's hard to set the float. I don't see info on setting it, only thing they say is check for level. When the throttle lever fails to work right, that is confusing. That is why I thought it had a vacuum leak in the gaskets...

Smokes when cold and using the choke!

Slomo I've had this carb on and off several times, looking to see if the throttle issue might have been from a vacuum leak sucking air in the line. At first it took me a couple hours of bending over in a poorly lit garage at 25 degrees. I'm understand much better now what everyone was telling...

Smokes when cold and using the choke!

Starting to understand small engine carburetors to a degree. Looking behind the control plate, and understanding what I was looking at took a little getting use to. I ordered a fiber optic scope to look inside, it should be in early this week. I'm hoping the cylinders are okay. Part of my problem now is me! I now need to review the throttle return linkage. I saw the 2 stroke on line, it seemed to be the bigger focus. I didn't see the 4 stroke videos, thanks. I just talked with a mechanic, he asked about my air filter!! And explained, if blocked, it still wants to move air flow and if there is no air it pulls more gas!! I just did a lot of earth moving this past year, putting in drainage pipes. I had a lot of dust, and never thought about it. I'm...
