    Is 2HP a big difference?

Those Wartzillas(Godzilla's) used to be built close to where I live. A connecting rod nut weighed over 500 pounds. Sometimes,a couple of hp don't amount to much. On a more serious side, I have several Briggs 500cc engines, one a 19hp and another is a 17.5 engine, the other one has no hp...

    No oil change?

I change in the Fall at the end of mowing season. I feel it is better to have the engine spend the downtime with new oil, rather than have the old oil settling out over the winter months. Just how I do it, no recommendation to others.

    Briggs broke rod

My 2 cents worth is based on my engine issues in the recent past. When my ZTR Husqvarna engine broke a rod, I factored in all the "if's" and related costs of rebuilding the engine compared to the mower replacement cost for a similar mower. Although i certainly did not want to spend the new...

    No oil change?

Many years ago,I had a 1957 Ford 2d sedan with an inline 6 that leaked and burnt a considerable amount of oil and I had to add oil nearly every time I drove it. The oil was constantly being "changed", but I still changed the oil and filter at the recommended mileage. It lasted me all through...

    Best fuel stabilizer

Friends of mine that actually make gasoline say winter gas is more likely to go bad over time than "summer blend" gasoline because it is more volatile to aid cold weather engine starting. 'Summer' gas will store better,BUT it's best to just NOT store any gasoline, just buy what you will be using...

126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

Is this just another case of cost cutting, buyer be damned? Glazing the porcelain would add to the cost so why do it if the plug will last a season! As for me, I'm happy with my Briggs and Stratton branded spark plugs.

126M02-6675-F2 Won't Run - Replaced Carb & Flywheel Key - Still No Go

I was recommended this plug for my Briggs engines by a pro mower guy. He says it is way more resistant to carbon fouling and misfiring. He has a gang of summer workers that are NTB and will over-choke an engine until it starts to sputter and sputter and foul a regular copper plug. I have had no...

Air conditioner leak detection dye should be a good use here. It's made to go in lubricant oil. I am reminded of the rolling in flour and look for the wet spot ,looking for leaks. The dye is less messy.

$15.00 a gallon for the T6 Shell. Add another $10.00 for the full synthetic. I change according to Briggs recommendations, but usually sooner.

    Oil???

So...is this B&S oil a re-labeled oil made by a major oil maker such as what I have been using? I've been using Shell Rotella diesel in my non-cat sportscar and also for my small engines. Is this oil formulated for Briggs and to their specs?

I have my serial number but it does not exist on the B&S website - or anywhere

I'd be using them for other stuff than cleaning a carb. Most all my carbs have way too small passages in them, except maybe my Carter VS.

It's not a 11 series, it's a Series 5,1984 vintage. New Rotary shifters are $18.00 free shipping. If I going to the effort to replace a lever,I'd prefer to go with new.

    Honda GCV160 equivalent/replacement options?

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

All my Briggs linkages look like this and there is no separate choke cable. When the throttle lever is moved to full wide open, the part of the linkage that is unseen in the posted pic, moves to push that loop of wire to the left (in the posted pic) to close the choke butterfly. Moving the...

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

You should use stranded automotive wire,16 to 20 gauge. This kill switch wire doesn't carry much current. Solid copper wire has no use on anything that has any vibration to it. The shaking, even a little will fatigue the wire ,leading to breakage and circuit failure.

    Honda Mower Seized Piston

Those pieces on the wires can sometimes be re-used if the 'christmas' tree part isn't too beat up. If they will not go back into the hole they came out of and hold securely they must be replaced, otherwise ruining the wires is a likely possibility. What I do in such cases is to use a zip tie on...

    Honda Mower Seized Piston

While I agree with most of the assessments on impacts, a QUALITY air impact will do everything needed to be done on lawn equipment and then some. Note I say 'quality' -impact wrench. Hustler idler pulley .bearing replacement

That is a nice looking pulley! When one of my idler pulleys locked up,while waiting to receive the replacement,I toyed around with the failed one for just a very few minutes, dulling one drill bit on it. While I most likely had the tools to get it apart,I quickly saw that this was a fools errand...

    Slicks to avoid making ruts?

    Hustler idler pulley .bearing replacement

Drilling those pulley rivets isn't an easy task,as some of them are heated and bradded down in one operation. This hardens and tempers the rivet as well as makes sure it is tight because of the metal shrinkage when the rivet cools. It's also much quicker (and quieter) than bashing them down...

Murray 30" Rear Engine Mower - Switch Help (does not turn off)

My opinion ,along with other posters here, is to never bypass the safety switches because that's what they are for-safety. When I bought my CZ42175,the seat kill switch was disabled. In the unlikely event I turn my mower over, I want my mower to shut off. The same with the "no start in gear"...

    Slicks to avoid making ruts?

Good idea there,hlw49. The CZ421 has 4 lugbolt hubs that are the same pattern as my HF trailer I use to haul it. Going to a larger tire/wheel shouldn't be much of a problem. Shoot,I could even use my trailer spare tires on the mower just to try this out. Releveling the deck would the work/issue...

    Slicks to avoid making ruts?

On the sloped part of my backyard, if it's been raining recently and the ground is somewhat wet, if I get too aggressive with the levers, I'll be spinning my drive wheels that are shod with turf tread tires like crazy. I can only imagine how the smooth tires would work for me, even though the...

    Slicks to avoid making ruts?

I toyed with the idea of replacing my drive wheels on my ztr, but the cons vs the pros was way toward the cons, plus the $$$$ of them told me they were not a good idea. As for the lawn care pro, my thoughts were he'd be better off simply having conventional spare tires rather than having the...

    Slicks to avoid making ruts?

I try to make wide turns if lawn space allows it. Other types of turns take more careful handling of the levers, I have to be careful not to pull the reversing side lever too far back, as the mower will spin that tire backward. My Turf Care CZ42175 is repowered with a 19hp B&S which is a tiny...
