I am repairing some wear & tear on my Hustler Super Z mower deck grass baffles, which are warn & cracked in places. It occurred to me that repairing with mild steel sheet may not be the best material.

My question are;
  • What is the steel used in my mower deck?
  • Something special to resist corrosion & abrasion or just regular mild steel?

Regular mild steel works. Just depends on you have available. I use lawn edging for the wider pieces here as that what I got available. Galvanized metals produce toxic fumes when welded.
