Oil drain plug melted

1st post so this may have been already covered.
Yesterday I had a oopsie, dang it. My oil drain line fell down on the muffler while mowing. I did not notice it unlil it was billowing smoke out back. The replacement for that plastic valve is about 45.00. I'm just not willing to pay that for that to happen again. I have a mavrick HD with the Vanguard 28hp, FI. has anyone found a metal replacement for that drain valve?

You can use a metal oil drain plug if you don’t want to buy another rubber extension one. The advantage the rubber extension drain has is that lessens the mess of oil. Should be a standard mower oil drain plug you can buy. You can check drain plug size with micrometer if you have one.

It will either be 3/8" npt or possibly 1/2 "

You can get the parts at a hardware store or auto parts store. You will need a straight piece of pipe threaded 3/8 NPT on both ends. You can then add a 3/8 NPT ball valve. In place of the ball valve you can use a 90 elbow 3/8 NPT female on both ends with a 3/8 NPT male pipe plug. You remove the plug to drain the oil. There are also replacement hoses on Amazon for a lot cheaper than the OE part.
Drainzit 1438 is the aftermarket drain hose.

If you over tighten the steel oil drain plug ON THAT ENGINE you will crack THE ALUMINUM SUMP block and then sadness.
Use about 3 layers of teflon tape and just get it snug..
So keep a heads up.

Yep, sound advice.

Take that rubber plastic drain line off and put a plug where it was. Use an evac pump which there are many kinds and prices. Use the same pump on your car, truck and motorcycles too.
