I am not one to ignore maintenance, that is sound advice in general. I am also on my third B&S-powered mower and have not sworn to never buy one again... I am aware that overall quality has dropped across brands and industries so I'm not entertaining any delusions that switching to any particular brand automatically guarantees quality in all of their products. However, there are notorious issues like the compression release valve breaking on the B&S engines, which have nothing to do with maintenance, and I was curious if there are any issues with these EXI engines that might be known by the pros. I am just a diy-er with limited time and budget and absolutely zero passion to fool around with small engines because some greedy corporate a-holes have decided to sell junk that breaks down faster in order to sell more. We all know a lot of the problems we come across are due to design issues like certain parts being improperly made of materials below the required stress threshold, which end up melted, shorn, etc.
