I just picked this Jacobsen up I figured for $30 at the very least it will be yard art!
Kohler k301 motor
Its missing carb and air filter and gas tank and so far the control knob is froze up hoping I can get it un- stuck and into neutral so I can roll it and hopefully get it running some day??
Fuel tank possibly can figured something out carburetor? I saw some Chinese choices on Amazon??
And ebay has some air filters or maybe fab one some how??
Connecting air filter to engine so far haven't seen anything that would work for an intake mount or flange!
Also trying to figure year!
Anyway just got it putting a list together for future project!
Any help or ideas would be great!
Thanks

Nice project machine with lots of potential.

My advice is to remove that old "radio noise" capacitor from the coil, it is garbage by now and it will prevent the coil from firing.

Thanks
Noted and on list!!
Got to doing some investigative work on the Jacobsen 1200
Its rolling!
The control knob shaft that rotates to let it go into neutral and free roll was frozen from years of sitting in a field! Been spraying pb blaster and deep creep and today I got it to move!
The machine rolls had 3 good tires and fixed the 4th!
The differential fluid looks like new and no metal bits!
Have not opened the pump yet!
The differential is definitely gear oil and the pump takes ATF
anybody know what type?
Im guessing 90w gear lube for diff and ATF????
THANKS

According to the manual I posted, the transmission is a Peerless model is 2308A.
The Peerless 2308A belongs to the Peerless 2300-series four-speed manual transaxle family and requires an oil bath fill of 64 ounces (2 quarts) of SAE 80W-90 (or EP-90) gear oil.
