New member from Ontario

I had a lawnboy mower circa 1968 that was my father’s for many years . It developed a knock, not sure if it was the lower rod bearing or the piston pin was loose. I gave to a friend who collects Lawnboy mowers and replaced mine with a Murray with a 4 hp Quattro in 2013.

I really missed that Lawnboy and decided I would get another one.

Today I bought one for $20 that didn’t run. It’s in decent shape.

It has spark and with a little fuel in the cylinder it fired first pull and kept going with the little mix that was in the tank.

I have to go thought the carb and governor as it sounded like it was spinning a little fast.

The deck label is for a 5277 but the shroud shows it’s a CS21ZPN

First question is what type of 2 stroke oil and a what mix ratio is recommended?

Please make a point of including all product label information and engine numbers for any machine you inquire about and need help with.

It makes it easier for us to 'cut and paste' the printed information when we are searching around trying to help you.

The good thing about a two-stroke is they can keep running at higher RPM without any issues. Most any good 2-stroke commercial oil with work with this thing but I advise mix only with non-Ethanol fuel if you can get it.

Mix the ratio 4oz oil per gallon of fuel (32:1) using a graduated measure cup and mix only a gallon at a time so you don't have larger amounts just sitting around. For what it is worth, I have always used a little more oil than required so I could see a very faint smoke out of the exhaust.
