FH491v upgrade?

Hello all. Looking forward to learning and sharing here in this forum.
My first post here is a question about upgrading my FH491v engine in my 2009 john deere X300 lawn mower.
I've already bought the Tuff Torq K57 transaxle, rims and tires for my build, and am trying to find out what is the
best upgrade for the engine. I've been eyeing the FR (FH) 691v , but I'm getting mixed confirmation on whether it
will bolt up, and fit well.
Has anyone here looked into, or done anything like this, and what engine upgrade would fit, and match the PTO shaft
dimensions of the FH491v?
Any information would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Cold djinn.

The mounting holes are universal across all brands. Are you buying it new? Are you able to post your engines full model number because your engines output shaft could either be 1" or 1 1/8".

Thanks for your speedy reply! I'm going to look for good used, hopefully with starter, etc. included. I'm still learning.
My engine has a 1" PTO shaft, so limited that way, unless I want to spend a lot more lol.
I will subscribe. I think I've already watched some of your vids. I live on Youtube for info. lol.

The FH Kawasaki is a great engine. This particular model may be a bit underpowered in horsepower in today’s standards. If it is running strong I would leave it in the mower.

I have two X300s. A 2008, and 2009. My 2009 is mint. I only use it for blowing snow. The 2008 is a fixer upper, and I love doing mods, so I've decided to make it a monster. Upgraded and customized. It's something to fill my time, and therapy for me. We have 3 cats and a screaming parrot, so I like to spend time in the quiet shop :)
