I'll bet there's a way to do this but is sure isn't obvious.

When you select REPLY and the quoted message comes up with your space below it to reply....how the hell do you cancel the REPLY action. There is zero cancellation selection anywhere so now you're stuck with a quote with no reply just hanging out there that can't be dismissed.

Anybody?

This is solved.....If you decide to not reply after all you must first POST the reply, even if blank, and then use the DELETE function of the POSTED reply to kill the "REPLY"......Kinda non-intuitve but once you know, you know. Thanks to Muhammad for suffering thru this experiment.....👍

Crap....being stupid has its costs. Thanks! Never once thought the save would have two options. However....just tried and the draft goes not go away and the REPLY block just sits there and doesn't close irregardless of DRAFT deletion.

There should be a software option icon that allows the deletion of the entire REPLY block. My guess is it should be part of the POST numbering system. The #4 post below is when I replied to the #2 post again but the entirety of #4 post cannot be deleted. The EDIT function maintains the numbering integrity for this post, #3, but you cannot delete #3 either. I should be able to right click the post number and have an option to delete it. Subsequent post numbering could be maintained but there would be a gap in the total sequence, which is fine.

And this should be Post #5 being checked on a Linux machine......when I looked at this post with the prior text in it, and again after DELETE DRAFT was used the draft text was gone but the only selection available was to hit REPLY as there is no option to CANCEL.....Quite confusing.

Okay I think i misunderstood. To delete the block of text that appears when you click reply, you need to just select the text in the reply window and delete it. On mobile vs desktop this will be slightly different. On mobile, select all and delete. On pc desktop, ctrl+ a and then delete or backspace.

Yes....you can do that but the original quoted message still remains on the screen and cannot be dismissed. If I wanted to I can build a huge chain of REPLY blocks, each with its own reply/message number and there's no way to dismiss any of them. Not that I would do that but it's an interesting way to mess up a forum. I'll run an experiment right here. There will be other blank REPLY blocks following this one all based on the same original message.

Now I understand.....the DELETE option only shows up if you POST the reply and after that use the DELETE option, provide a "reason" , you then delete the message. Well, that was stupid. I think I have a couple of blank replies somewhere so I'll try deleting those. Thanks!
