Hi All,

I have a Castelgarden XDC 140 which i believe is sold as Stiga Estate 3084 H in the US. The blade engagement is quite severe with the belt squeaking when switched on. Is it possible to add a soft start module to the electric PTO clutch.

I have successfully added soft start modules to table and chop saws in my garage although they use AC direct to motor.

I suspect you would burn up the clutch pull in magnet attempting this. These are designed for immediate on and off operation.

Sounds more like you have tight bearings on the spindles or pulleys and the belt does not have the proper tension. A wrong width or length belt is also likely.

Soft start capacitors are designed for AC electric motor and air conditioning compressor operations to soften the high startup load due to system pressures.

Thanks for the reply. I need to find out more about how the clutch works. It fell out the first day I bought it from new and had to bring it back to shop. Maybe they didn't reinstall it correctly.
