Hope not! My CH22 is almost 30, and still going strong. Knock on wood, and lots of oil/filter changes.

Or maybe a defective oil filter that restricted flow? I'd drain and cut it apart to see.

Due to the fins' cleaning (a good thing), the engine is running cooler. So tolerances are likely smaller, which could explain the former "looseness" at shutdown. However, other driven devices/bearings outside the engine could have gone bad, so check them out.

E.g., did you use compressed air, through a nozzle?

Are you sure the oil level was correct before starting it the final time? {I check mine before each use.}

Classic sound of running out of gas. I'll guess fuel pump. If a vacuum pump, replace its lines as well.

If, someday, gasoline is banned or just isn't sold widely. They are already talking about such in California. Here (not anywhere near CA), ethanol (E85, E90) is already sold at one major gas station chain. So, besides gaskets and carb rejetting, anything else? Timing affected? Fuel filter...

Just wondering ... for the future. Anyone run straight (90%+) ethanol in their Kohler? What parts were needed for the conversion?
