Classic sound of running out of gas. I'll guess fuel pump. If a vacuum pump, replace its lines as well.

If, someday, gasoline is banned or just isn't sold widely. They are already talking about such in California. Here (not anywhere near CA), ethanol (E85, E90) is already sold at one major gas station chain. So, besides gaskets and carb rejetting, anything else? Timing affected? Fuel filter...

Fixed mine! Turned out to be the (previously replaced, but years ago) vacuum-powered fuel pump. And fortunately I had a new (cheap) pump on the shelf. But figuring out it was the pump took a while this morning. * Working on fuel is very dangerous, so leave it to professionals is my advice to...

My CH22 suffers from this too. One thing I did was to keep the fuel tank very full which decreases the pressure loss from the tank to the vacuum-driven fuel pump. I also learned that it did not like nonOEM fuel filters (too high a pressure loss?). The clear OEM filters, even before this...

If at all questionable, replace the battery. And charge it, of course! :-) Hopefully you have a low-amp charger, e.g., 1 to 2 amp? It is always better to slow-charge a lead acid battery.

How old's the battery? Check the condition of the cables, and clean and tighten its terminals. Be safe.

When it ran out of gas, did it quit gently, or were there backfires or bucking?

P.S. The old battery did die a few months later. New (same type) battery was cheap, from Walmart, so should have replaced it back then.
