140 inch lbs is not too much for 5/16 bolts. Current spec for some B&S engines call for 200 inch lbs for 5/16 grade 8 head bolts. I just checked the B&S Service Manual and it calls for 140 inch lbs for that series of engine. Have no idea what that is in metric. Walt Conner

You can not tell from the physical appearance of these engine whether it is a 40, 42 or a 46 series engine. While some parts will interchange between the three, not all will obviously since the hp varies considerably. I doubt it is a 40 series. Walt Conner

I always shot for the minimum on the Intake valve which is the most critical for Conpression Release action, mid on Exhaust Walt Conner

OR you can replace the fuel solenoid with a plug. Your mounting holes will match but cylinder will stick out one side of the engine. Walt Conner
