Thanks Mark have replaced the starter still same problem sometimes you can move the wires around the switch and it will crank and start but not always,it’s driving me crazy and have been dealing with it for years just finally trying to get it fixed.Engine is a kawasaki serial #FB460-181430...

I have a old JD 160 sometimes the starter will engage a the mower will start and run fine other times you have to tap the starter while holding the key in the start position and it will start and run fine no rhyme or reason when it happens any ideas what’s going on would be appreciate. Thanks...

Thanks for reply, i got the belt off and there was a number on the belt and the JD dealer had one in stock belt # M83837 and is a little over 88 inches just for future reference in case someone runs into the same problem and thanks to you got the belt off and back on no problem Thanks again...

I fooled with it several hrs yesterday and could not see the forest for the trees, after i read your post and saw your pics a light bulb went off duh what a dummy thanks again. I have a old JD 160 trying to figure out how to replace the trans drive belt, looks like the steering gear has to be removed but I can’t figure out how to do it any help would be appreciate. Thanks, tink5610
