That worked! I left the intake wide open/compressed over night and came out today and it started and ran. Sometimes the basic things work! Thanks VegetiveSteam.

So how do I get it to adjust in correctly? There is no lash spec at all. All I can do is tighten it to 100 in lbs. Is the lifter faulty? Should I tighten the rocker with the lifter pressurized or bled off?

VegetiveSteam, it's definitely bleeding down, because as soon as it starts, it pumps up and holds the intake valve open. Is there a way to properly adjust these? In doing research it seems all lifters bleed down as an engine sits. I was thinking about removing the lifters and bench bleeding...

Most of the time that clicking is the failure of the solenoid. Two things to check: make sure the engine turns freely by hand (sometimes the starter gear can jamb). if it does, try to jump the starter. get a screwdriver and put it across the two large posts on the solenoid. If the starter turns...

I used an inline spark tester, you can barely see the indicator light up. I tried the tester on another machine, bright as day. New plugs too, but the coils aren't putting out the bright spark.

The coil will shut off if I wire it direct. It doesn't look like a switch is there. It's literally wired to a nut on the back of the brake puck.

It could be the starter seizing up, or the valve lash is incorrect, so the compression release system isn't working correctly when it cranks.

Hello all, I have a JD 425 with the FC420D engine. It has no spark on the right side. Replaced the coil, still nothing. Can the ignitor run only one side, or is it completely good or bad period? What would the next step be?
