Lucky find - Used Snapper with FJ180V engine

Update: I cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted a commercial Hi-Vac deck, then moved the engine and drive system onto it. I used Real Red from Sherwin-Williams from their oil-based industrial alkyd enamel product line. This was a test; I need to get this mower into service this month, since...

    Belated intro - from Pittsburgh

Hello everyone, I am a DIY/enthusiast homeowner in the Pittsburgh area. I like to work on small engines as a hobby, and this forum is an excellent resource - lots of experienced people here willing to share their knowledge. I am in my early 40s with a family, and work in an office, so it's...

Lucky find - Used Snapper with FJ180V engine

I got her running- just needed a complete carburetor cleaning, and fresh gas and oil. Ironically, it's snowing here today and I'm working on a mower. These links show how to clean it:

Lucky find - Used Snapper with FJ180V engine

I found this on Facebook Marketplace - it needs one cable repaired and the carburetor cleaned, but it fired up on starter fluid at least. Not bad for $50, a former landscaper was selling it. This engine looks moderately complex, but I'm confident that I can figure out how to service it.

Snapper 21351PD - how to completely remove rear wheel drive disc?

Thank you both. The spark plug is new as of 3 months ago. I'll look into the valves. This mower belonged to a landscaper, and I think that it saw heavy use based on all of the dirt that I cleaned off of it.

Snapper 21351PD - how to completely remove rear wheel drive disc?

On another topic, I think that it's time to replace this coil in my other 21351PD. This one is probably 36 years old: The engine starts with this, after a few pulls.

Snapper 21351PD - how to completely remove rear wheel drive disc?

Hi everyone, I searched, but could not find someone else who did this. I want to take apart my old Snapper 21351PD walk-behind mower, so that I can clean and paint the deck. I have tried to remove the disc drive system shown below, but am missing something obvious - I've turned the nut...

Thanking this forum - solved it after searching here

Hello, Thanks to the existing posts here, I was able to diagnose and replace a bad ignition coil on my Briggs 92902 engine. I first disconnected all kill wires, cleaned off the corrosion, and gapped the old coil to .010" - no spark with a known-good spark plug and tester. I installed a new...

1980s Snapper Hi Vac - still works

Hi everyone, I bought this 21351PD Snapper Hi Vac, and got it running. It looks like a late-80's model, with a B&S 92902-3271 3.5 HP engine. It needed some maintenance and cleaning, but once I got it started, it went. Impressive that it still works and cuts after this many years. I have the...

    HRR blades on an HRN?

Update: They seem to work well, I can't see a difference in cut quality between these and the OEM blades.

    HRR blades on an HRN?

Hello everyone, Can these blades be used safely and effectively on a HRNB216VKA? My dealer sold me these as spare, and I want to either use them or return them. They do fit and have the same mounting holes. https://www.amazon.com/Honda-HRR-Blade-72531-VE2-020-72511-VE1-020/dp/B00U08OLOS They...
