Since this engine is an oddball (Rato) I'm thinking they probably don't have larger piston and ring options. I'll look into buying another engine (maybe the Predator).
thanks for all the help
same engine my friend. Predator may be a clone or vice versa in my research - not sure. Yes it took me a while to find any documentation on this Rato R210- but I finally did : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1314179/Rato-R160.html#manual
The scratch looks worse in the photos than it feels by the finger. The majority of that line is smooth but somewhere right in the middle is the only place I can feel it - and it is subtle.
thank you - I have a photo of when the piston was installed and when its at BDC, the top of the piston is below the scratch by about a 1/2 inch.
So the rings are going over the scratch during travel.
Is this enough to make it run poorly?
.
Hello,
I've been trying to narrow down a poor running engine and found a scratch in the cylinder wall further down in the bore. I can feel it with my fingernail but its not too obvious.
Could this little scratch be the reason why i run so poorly?
Leakdown test was good
Compression : 90psi -...
So I lapped the valve and then did another leak down test - it was within 10%.
It still runs poorly so I did a compression test
cold and dry :64psi
cold w/ a little oil in the hole : 83psi
with throttle open and oil :90psi
Just an update: I took the head off and poured gas on top of the valves (upside down while is my vise) . I then took a can of compressed air and shot it it into the intake then exhaust ports. I got bubbles coming out of the Intake valve - none on exhaust side. Hope this helps someone.
Hi - You ever have that feeling when you've looked up and tried everything you can think of and u still can't figure that out? Welcome.
I've got a RATO R210 engine (Ryobi pressure washer # 80544) that will start but idles bad, pops, shakes. It will rev up some but still doesn't sound good...
sorry - it is bumping the exhaust valve on the compression stroke but I don't think that the bump is big enough to open the valve to reduce compression. If my valves are adjusted correctly would it still be a cam issue?
Hello,
Working on a Ryobi # 80544 with a R210III 212cc engine.
I can only pull the starter rope on every like 4th try - its stuck on the other 3 times i try to pull it. So ii I take out the spark plug and pull the rope, no problem it rotates easily. I was expecting to see either oil or gas...
