I am hoping to reuse the valve cover on the HRN since they are now $34 compared to my HRR that are only $18. I know Honda does not want the covers reused but if you check the valves every year like they say and add in the other yearly service items, the cost is getting crazy.

It seems like the repair shop near me used the Right Stuff, up until he retired. Not sure how it will be to remove when the cover has to come off at the next valve check.

Thanks. Permatex comes in gray, black and red (high temp). What works the best for this application? Also, does the sealant dry up like caulk does after a few weeks/months?

I have a Honda HRN 216 and I plan on checking the valves. My question is what sealant are you using to seal the valve cover back in place? Hondabond 4, Permatex (gray or black) or another brand. I am not sure why Honda did not use a traditional gasket. Not looking forward to removing the cover.

Update: it turn out to be a stretched drive cable. I replaced the cable (yes, it is a pain), made the adjustment and off it went.

My guess is they are already working on one. With California adopting the elimination in sales of small gas power engines and who knows what other states may follow, Honda will need to revise its market strategy or it could take the path of the once great giant - Sears.

Too bad Honda came out with the newer HRN because with the bushing issues involving the HRR model, perhaps we could have applied to Honda for a joint “Grant” to fund this endeavor. Only kidding.
