I bought a used mower..some of the grease fitting will not take grease They are drive in fittings... how do I remove them and should I replace them with drive in or self tapping fittings or tap an hope I get all the metal out?

I bought this mower used. Some grease fittings won't accept grease. They are drive in fittings .. how do I remove them and should I replace with drive in or self tapping zerks.. Sorry I put this in the wrong place
