John Deere LT 155 lawn tractor. When I turn the key to the "off" position, it turns off the engine but continues to buzz as though it was in the "on" position prior to engaging the starter. Any thoughts would be appreciated. As per below, this stops when I sit in the seat.

Runs fine going backward. Began losing power going forward and now will only crawl. If it was a car, I'd say the clutch was out. I'm only the shadiest of shade tree mechanics, so what should I look for? Thanks in advance.

Kohler engine on my 10 yr old JD lawn tractor continues to run after key is off. Even if I get off the seat, the kill switch does not stop it. Goes right on idling until I pull the spark plug wire. Any thoughts will appreciated.
