I unplugged, cleaned and reseated the PTO and ignition connectors. Also, adjusted the throttle cable tension. It's all working fine now. Thanks!

That's not the belt - that's the rusted throttle control arm. EDIT: Here are belt and pulley pics ...

The mount area was rusted and it wasn't working correctly.

I replaced the throttle cable. Now the blade won't spin - at all. (I don't know that the two things are related.) The belt looks OK and I can turn things by hand (so it's not frozen up). Where should I start looking first? Thanks

Is the tank vent replaceable or would the whole tank have to be replaced? OK re. the filter. I put screw clamps on either side of the filter and will keep an eye on it.

#2 - It appears to run back to the carb behind/below the air filter (see pics) #3 - Sigh. I should have looked more closely - I would have known that. I don't see a purpose for it. (It looks like a CB or Ham radio 12v connector.)
