Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have changed brand and viscosity of oil. This is just me being “el cheapo”. I will do as you suggest and hope for the best. Merry Christmas.

I have a John Deere X728 and it has been a great unit. I bought it new in 2010 and currently has 698 hrs. As of late it has started to use a lot of oil. ( .5qt per 4 hrs) It does not smoke and still has plenty of power. What should be my coarse of action to correct this problem ?
