Makes sense. That's what activates to diaphragm inside the pump to pull/push fuel, I assume?

The carb is all metal, not plastic, just not great lighting or angle, apparently. I will take a look as you suggest regarding the pulses for fuel. And the solenoid indication you mentioned. What would the solenoid on the carb bowl be for?

Brand new battery, all connections are clean. I removed the ignition switch earlier and cleaned all contacts as a matter of course. Just went out and got it to crank, but will not fire on its own, needs starting fluid. Fuel pump is brand new, fuel lines are brand new, carburetor is as clean as...
