B&S 303777 wont run after new rings

rings is not a bad place to go on something like that but probably not the main cause. engines of that era and in genral tend to loose the oil rings and run fine on the top ring just smoke some. valves and valve clearance was most likely the true issue also common also some service bullitins and...

Where are you guys getting your parts?

Rotary is a great place to start for aftermarket parts. If you wanna be a dealer, American-made with American steel blades and filters, also available in gator style. and most pulleys and idlers are OEM for Husqvarna MTD products. as for JD parts, good luck. I use Hartville Hardware for OEM JD...

    Backfiring through the exhaust

put them to .004 and verify the correct main jets. you have a left and a right and wouldnt be th first time ive seen high altitude jets put in. you also have 2 diodes that can cause issues like that between the coills unplug them and see how it runs

    Backfiring through the exhaust

Check your valve adjustments. sounds like they are tight zero clearance and probably hard to start both hot and cold due to mavrick air being sucked in making it super lean. as the engine warms up cleances tend to open a bit and valves wil seat. belive clearances should be .004" on all four...

    Jump starting an under-seat battery?

I mowed lawns for 20 something years and now have a repair shop from exmarks to scags to Craftsman not a one of them needs you in the seat. Nor should you jump start your tractor and mow your lawn it's a good way to fry your regulator and or stator. And will apply to all out door power...

    Cub Cadet spindle parts maintenance/replacement

Those are tapered bearings for starters, but think you figured that out I just skim read. Thats a nice set up. almost pro grade. Yes the seals come out and should be rather generic Seals can be bought by size many times, size is listed right with OEM part numbers. Depending on how the mandrel is...

    Spark Plug Opinions

Intake manifolds are different lengths on either side of the carb to compensate for this. If you're referring to the newer Happy Homeowner JD tractors and zero turns running single barrel Breaks and scrap em engines the older ones pre 2021ish benefit big time from a larger updated part number...

    Spark Plug Opinions

True on the turns, yes bit of a quality control thing also a price bracket thing. coils are coils with a primary and a secondary other then their physical appearance they work the same with the same stuff inside them go price a coil pack for a Buick leSabre not much of a difference price wise...

    Spark Plug Opinions

replace both coil packs with 21171-0740 left white plug used to look like the right one until it got washed with fuel. this assuming inatke is attached that cylinder isnt running hot for some other reason, valve adjusts, head gaskets, debris etc be willing it even runs on that cylinder (power...

Intek 40 Series Pushrod Length vs Adjustment Range

💯 Infact from what I can tell I'm the only one that's ever heard of valve spring shims. Again engines are engines there's an odd misconception small engines are in a different category. Yes you want the spring compressed they even last longer that way. Now it is just a small engine yes it will...

Intek 40 Series Pushrod Length vs Adjustment Range

I enjoy reading the back and forth on this stuff. Quickly as a shop do it the right way and this only due to save our bum from lack of service and neglect. As a shop for myself that changes his oil uses API rated CH-4 cj-4 or CK-4 oil 20w-50 and cleans his cooling fins id drive the pin in ream...

    battery overcharging

If you have a black and red wire on a single plug, that's the most common on all your happy homeowner tractors and is Briggs dual circuit both AC/DC stator. DC is achieved by the use of a simple diode (in the black shrink tubbing before the engine side plug). This set up is most common and also...

Too much compression. adjusted the valves and it got worse

you got some wrong info too much clearance on your exhaust valve is what's causing "too much compression" and it's not that it's too much it's just not hitting the compression release set intake (aluminum push rod) to .004" that inches. set exhaust (steel push rod) to .006" INCHES......oil in...
