Cranks and runs until shift lever is moved off of limit switch, then unit stops power to coil,thought it might be limit switch at seat or pto switch but both seem fine ,is there another limit switch ?

I am rebuilding a 580 Kawasaki engine and the lower bearing seems to be coated with a hard film, is this normal or should this hard film be removed before reasembly ,never seen a bearing like this.
