Had since I was 2yrs old. Worked great, no problems for first 25yrs but things started to fall apart after that. New engine in 1997. I used my amateur skills to weld and form pieces to keep it going. Still starts and runs good, however smokes a little upon startup for about 30 seconds then...
Engine was replaced. My father said it was a 8hp but not sure. Original on riding lawnmower was a 7hp. This one looks a lot like the one I took off it which worked for 9yrs, so I hope it works. I guess I'll just connect both wires to the same ground or would it be better to ground both wires...
So I removed a coil with one ground that attached onto the top of the coil. This new coil (see my pic) has 2 grounds which said it was for my engine. So where does the 2nd ground wire go to? Thanks for any help.
Anyone know how you add oil to the 3 speed transmission? There's no oil pour or drain bolt that I can see. I was going to take the bolts off the shifter but I'm afraid a spring or something will come flying out never to be seen again. Its on a 1972 Huffy riding lawnmower which has a Briggs...
Bertsmobile might be right. I remember destroying the engine when I went over a raised sewer grate when I was 14. I don't know where my father took it but they put a new engine on it. Thanks for the responses and I'll check out Facebook.
Here's the coil I took off. The little sticker is mostly unreadable, however I think the first numbers are 31-2...something. I know it was replaced around 2005 by a friend who I thought knew a lot about engines but turned out to be just another hack..like me! Looks a lot like the part number...
I guess they didn't make this awesome engine for too long because I can't find any parts for it. I think 1969 thru 1973. 7hp B&S on a Huffy Sheraton riding mower. Its been the best engine I've ever had by far. I think number on the shroud is 170702 0645 02 6903271. 50yrs, abused and...
Update - Winters of 2021/22 were mild again, so I used it less than 10 times. Plow is getting bent up but no issues with MKX. I got stuck but noticed I still had traction control on. Once I turned it off, it bit in to the snow and accelerated out of the snow drift. (which is what most car...
I'm just guessing but if belt is correct, maybe replacing springs would help? After so many heat and cool down cycles, springs might look OK, but they change their molecular structure, so maybe giving too much tension on the belts? If not that, check for play in rear axle bearings/bushings...
