I have a Sabre riding mower 15/42 15 horsepower with a 42 inch cut - 2 blades. I would like to replace the B&S engine with a larger one at least 17 horse power or more. Are these engines basically the same with the same mounting holes. The larger engine mowers appear to be exactly the same size.

Some years ago, I started using synthetic oil in my mowers, snowblower and tillers, of which I have several. It was the best thing I ever did. All of my equipment starts easier, runs quieter, a lot better, and lasts a lot longer. I'll continue to use synthetic oils in my small engines.
