no, i can have blades or trans but not both at the same time. and it sputters and then dies. and yes like not enough power for both

i have a john deere 165 riding mower. i adjusted the carb due to rough idle now when i engage the blades it holds idle. but when i engage the trans it dies out fast. any ideas?
