Looks like gremlins are creeping back into this site.

being a poster who felt a while ago that this site was suffering and needed to be put down and end its suffering, I have to now say that it has apparently seen the light and has been given renewed life. No issues observed here of late ..... yippee!

    Oil filter

interestingly, my JD x585 has a drip tray that the engineers designed to catch the bit of oil that spills out when replacing the filter. It's also nice hold JD has a flexible drain tube, so you can direct the oil flow into a container, and not all over the machine or floor. If they can do it...

    Switching to longer blades?

I hear you.... since this problem seems to have started immediately upon getting this unit, and other customers have had/are having the same issue it seems this is an inherent manufacturing deficiency... time to trade the dang thing in for a decent machine!

    Switching to longer blades?

Hmmmmm, well imagine that . . . . . Cons & Common Complaints Cut Quality: Some reviews indicate that the mower may leave "stragglers" or doesn't cut evenly in very tall or thick grass, potentially requiring a second pass

    Switching to longer blades?

some before and after results with Oregon G6 mulching blades set at 3" with the grass currently at about10" and damp grass today . . . . the leaves and bark are from a couple Sycamore trees, huge leaves and tough bark - - -

Soft or Pneumatic tires for a lawn boy 10550?

Uhmmm, I'd guess that softer tires will just cause you to scalp the dickens out of the lawn. Maybe try aerating on a rainy day and then rolling it to level things a bit . . . . . jmo
