Bearing would be 16 on the left hand side from behind the mower

Are the chew marks caused by the failed bearing, or you trying to get it apart? Answer: Me, Tried to see if the spline was screwed on Bearing was actually OK but after 20 years decided to do an overhaul. Bearing is absolutely behind/ held in place by the spline.
