STX38 Black Deck Hydro Fan Replacement - Do you have to drop the trans?

I need to replace the hydro fan and there doesn't seem to be any room to get to it. If the battery tray was removable it would be easy to get to, but the tray doesn't seem to be removable. Does the trans axle have to be removed to replace the fan? or is there another way to get to it? I've read...

Briggs and Stratton Classic Carburetor Leaking Gas x2

It's not the gas cap..I checked closely and it definitely looks like its coming from the base of the carburetor on the inbound side. I did snug up the screws good and tight..maybe I overdid it. If I take it back apart can the gasket and diaphragm be reused or would I need new again? thanks everyone

I pulled the carb's, cleaned them, installed new diaphragm and gasket, and o-ring that goes to intake tube. Problem is...

    Troy Bilt TB30R Blade engagement

With the mower not running have someone move the deck engagement lever while you look at the left side of the deck. There is a floating idler pulley that has some sort of handle looking piece on it that sometimes can hang on stuff and cause the blades not to be able to engage.
