Check and make sure you have correct blade drive belt on it, one a little too small will cause this just like one too big wont engage fully.

The crank case is where all internal parts are, piston, connecting rod etc.

If you can afford it go with TS 354XGD, it has a K66 transmission with locking drives, for the long haul it would be better than the 254 which probably has K46.

One thing I haven’t seen is check the engine oil, if overfull be sure and change it before starting engine.

Don’t baby the engine, it has been run in at factory, go full throttle to keep engine cool, change oil after first 5 hrs. Then what ever book says, I Change mine at 50 hrs but most summers I end up at around 46 hrs so I just change at end of each mowing season, I have the dreaded Koehler courage...

It looks like a CV series which is the industrial version, as for model number I have no clue, go to Kohler.com and comparing engines, this engine will have hydraulic valves so no adjustment needed, good luck !

You can take battery to Autozone or O’Reilly,s or any other chain auto parts store and they will load test battery and see if its any good, they do it free of charge.

I wish a lot more would give us an update on how the fix turned out.

My best guess would be like modern cars, replace most any part dealer has to reprogram computer to work, to me the mower thinks you replaced mower deck and dealer will need to plug in and get it working again.

I saw on a video (not sure of name of video) that the mower will be in $5000 range, if you Google mower you can find a couple reviews, I did watch Dirt Monkey's review on Youtube and mower is pretty strong, he mowed some tall stuff and it had no problem, he did have all 6 batteries in it.
