Given that photo you've attached, it looks like maybe I need to push up from the underside while pushing down on the knob or that rectangular collar?? I'll give that a try in awhile. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK, then what's next ----- get to the dealer and have the whole thing replaced...

So, my D170 has a yellow knob that you pull up to engage the mower blades. Suddenly this has become loose; the knob drops back down and dis-engages while mowing, and the whole structure (under the dash) is just wiggly and loose. I was expecting to see some sort of screws, bolts, something to...
