    Kawasaki Alternator Voltage Ouput

My 18 HP Kawasaki on my John Deere LX280 has to have battery charged about once a month. I checked the voltage output and found it is putting out 21-22 volts AC at fast idle, and 12.2 volts DC at battery. Doesn't it need to be 30-40 volts AC and 13+ volts DC? This model uses a full size...

Why a 500 CCA battery in Deere LX280?

I read somewhere that this model’s transmission remains engaged always, that the starter must turn the motor and transmission, thus more battery power is required. Go figure!

Why a 500 CCA battery in Deere LX280?

I have a 17HP Kawasaki in an LT180 that recommends a 160 CCA battery, but my LX280 with a18 HP Kawasaki recommends a “500 CCA Group Size 51” battery, sounds like overkill to me. These are two used units I picked up planning to fix up and flip. These LT180 sounds like too small a battery to me...

Help please: GT2142 Drive Shaft Needle Barrel Replacement

Got it done! I used grease to hold the barrels place, that part went better than expected. Getting hooked into the engine side was a little challenging but I was successful! Thanks everyone for the help!

Help please: GT2142 Drive Shaft Needle Barrel Replacement

I acquired a 2009 GT2142 recently that had been parked for at least a few years (235 total hours). When I got it cranked and took it on a road test, the driveshaft went to banging and came off. I discovered the blue needle barrels on both engine and transmission end had “collapsed.” I watched...

    Homemade oil extractor

Question concerning oil-fluid extractors: I see several on YouTube that either use a home-made or commercial vacuum extractor for pulling oil up through a small engine oil fill tube, works pretty well. Some are powered by an air compressor, and I’ve seen home-made units use a shop-vac. My...

Is my problem the park Plug Gap? Mower manual says .040, engine manual says .030.

I have a fixer upper YTH2348 Husqvarna mower (Model 960430035 00 - Serial 120806B002718). It is powered by a Briggs and Stratton Intek 23 HP engine (Model 445577 - Type 0755 E1 - Code 061117YG). It sat at a friend's house for a couple of years with a rusted out deck, oil leak, and flat tires...

Mini Boom Mower attachment for rider

Anybody ever tried attaching or building a boom mower to a rider? I have been thinking of a practical way to get a boom mower on one of my old riders. It would come in so handy for ditches and pond banks! A trail mower would never do what this thing could do. The weight distribution and...

    Driving mower at night

I do it a lot. I mow early mornings now and then so that my day can be free. I added a headlight to my Snapper last year. I bought a wide angle beam instead of a projector, and it works well. I added a single fog light to the rear so that I could see when backing up. I wired and fused directly...
