    Electrical woes

Love your work, I have a 35 year old Nissan Patrol Petrol carbureted, that was misfiring and would not rev past 2000rpm. Non of the shops really wanted to look at it, asked a few questions and started ordering parts. First was coil, helped a bit but didn't resolve, new cheap chines Carby, then...

    Portable and standby generators

I have 2 portable generators, 3.5Kva cheapie, like you get at Walmart, and a 7Kva Yamaha. Both I start every other month or so and let running powering the dryer or something for about 30mins. They both have fuel stabiliser in them and both have done very little actual work.

    curious Choke questions

I have 2 choke questions. I have a Cub Cadet ZT2 running a Kawasaki FR691V 2 Cylinder. 60 hours on the clock and starts first turn of the Starter. Exmark 22.5hp blowing white

When mine went it was the oil scrapper ring, belching white smoke everywhere, couldn’t see the front of the mower. Crazy thing was, the bore and compression rings were spot on.

    Sharpening Blades

Sharpen!!! My blades wear from the back. (Sandblasted) I’m lucky if I need to sharpen them once before they are flogged out, I reckon they last about 15 hours. Mower shop said that is normal for where I live.

    Oils

I’ve always ran multigrade, some of my engines are 25 years old. 40 years ago I was told by an Old mower mechanic change your oil at least once a year, and they will go forever, oh and clean the air intake.

My Friend got ripped off by the Dealer.

Small engine or car mechanic, there are the truly great ones, those that dare I say have a great deal of common sense, (rare commodity these days), who can think, diagnose and repair. Who want to be paid a fair wage and earn a living as they should and well those, who either just want to rip...

Buying a forever lawnmower. Lawnmower buying advice.

Best advice from family friend and mower mechanic, Change the oil regularly at least every 25hours, and keep the air cleaner clean. Done this and even on a 6hp Briggs, 25 years later its still going.
