    Oil Capacity ?

https://engineneeds.com/sae-30-high-detergent-oil/ https://engineneeds.com/sae-30-non-detergent-oil/ I do not agree that small engine need non detergent oils as in the last link. Years ago I tore an old (1946) tractor apart that had be run with non detergent oil and scraped a lot of old gunk...

    No fuel pump output

Not sure how the pickup line goes into the tank -- but if there is a metal elbow that fits into the tank check the line INSIDE the tank. Sometimes the line will break or crack and not draw fuel properly. I came upon that issue may years ago where the line accually fell off the fitting.

    Compression Tester

Years ago I attended a service school and if I don't forget what I was told --- They stated the schrader valve needs to be as close to the cylinder as possible, for the reason in a previous post. This is especially important when checking small engines such as chain saws and weed trimmers etc...

When i was working at a small engine shop, had a lot of Honda mowers come in for not starting. Upon trying to solve the problem attempted to start the engine. Usually would pull the rope and have fire out the exhaust or back thru the carburetor, occassionaly it would rip the grip out of my hand...

    New/Used to me

According to a post by rivets "your unit was built in 1994" referring to the tractor Kohler engine dating turned up "1994 - 10-digit serial number - First two digits 24" Note the serial number of the engine starts with 24 which makes it a 1994 production. So it appears this engine would have...

    New/Used to me

Interesting debate going here. I decided to check the given toro website https://www.toro.com/getpub/8833 Operator manual for the tractor. all illustrations show a twin. The parts book https://www.toro.com/en/parts/partdetails?id=5296 shows both single and twins were used in the 266H service...

Toro Timecutter 75742 engine stopped in the middle of mowing. Won't start again

Apply some (not too much) pressure to the fuel tank with the hose from the pump to carb in a bucket. If you now have fuel it proves either the filter is plugged or the pump is bad. If no fuel removed the line at the fuel filter and put in a bucket and recheck. If you only have air or frothy gas...

Has the small engine line of work hit rock bottom?

Be careful with Cd's and manuals not purchased from Mother Deere. She gets very unhappy with those that sell copies. A few years ago Ebay sellers had no manuals to sell because she threw a temper tantrum. I am glad I got 4 cd's for the older stuff before she got so upset.

    .010 oversize piston???

Here is the difference between a cylinder hone and a glaze breaker. The hone is used to enlarge cylinders and keep the bore reasonably straight. The glaze breaker is used to remove the glaze (smooth surface) from the cylinder. Often people refer to a glaze breaker as a hone as you can see the...
