Brute mower problem

Briggs, this is really weird, but my gaming desktop, a modded Dell 530, WILL NOT let me post a new thread in THIS ONE FORUM...I reported the problem and it lets me post and reply elsewhere but WILL NOT LET ME POST IN THIS ONE.....:confused2: I am using my laptop now, when I use the desktop I get an error message saying the Internal Server is causing the problem...GRRR.
Anyhow I purchased a new Brute 22 inch self propelled rear bag/mulch/side discharge push mower at Menards back in July, it cost me $167 plus tax after the rebates, I love it because it does everything well. But after 15 hours use this year, I decided to store it and use my older push mower the rest of the time. So I ran the fuel out, changed the oil, power washed the underside and topside, and then checked all the fasteners...it uses ten bolts that hold the deck/wheel adjuster assemblies together, one was missing, the other nine were loose enough to remove by hand. I did not check them for tightness, who does on a brand new mower?? Anyhow the remaining bolts had no lock washers or lock nuts, I added lock nuts and replaced the missing bolt, which thankfully was SAE thread, I have NEVER had any new push mower that lost any fasteners in 15 hours of use, nor one where every major bolt and nut loosened in the same time frame.
I sure hope this gets to the forum, I am sick and tired of retyping it over and over and getting error messages. At least when a mower has something wrong you can usually SEE the problem...:confused2:

Yep may have been at break time on the line and got looked over...
I 'usually' try to double check fastners ... but now and then I forget...
Not many lock washers on things now days... You can snug things up and place a drop of green,(used for after assembly), locktite at the nut, it will wick in and hold it fast.

HMMM. maybe I better take my Dell apart and see if I neglected to tighten something when I added the modifications, add some lock washers or Locktite, etc. :laughing:
It irritates the heck out of me when I buy something costly and find there is minimum, poor quality hardware to assemble it. I just installed a $400 Wayne-Dalton overhead garage door, the hardware they packaged with it was such poor quality I threw most of it away. Everything was standard steel, minimum length, no washers, no locknuts, and the design of the track itself used as few hardware items as possible. The bolts used on my Brute mower were high strength (3 hash marks) . Penny pinching, IMO, when a manufacturer skimps on hardware.

These days the Pre delivery is terrible........you have to run a spanner over the whole machine to tighten the nuts or bolts.
when you buy from a dealer.......they are suppose to do all these things.......but they are complacent.
I always check my machine daily .........just incase of a potential problem.

lol dam coffee break eh ....Yes locktite always works great and you are right about the lock washers i guess they are trying to cut down on the cost
