Oil Capacity ?

FX801V DS25. Does anyone know the actual capacity of this engine. I’ve heard different capacities. It has the original dipstick, not the updated version. I’ve been told 2.0, 2.1, and, 2.4. Sorry if I duplicated post.

The oil capacity with a filter change is 2.4 qts. You cannot fully drain the crankcase when doing an oil change so check it after 2 qts. You’re likely fine. The updated dipstick just increases the margin of error for those that do not check their oil level regularly.

The wise thing to do is actually measure the oil as you refill the crankcase. Sometimes they drain to spec, other times they might not by either being not drained enough or completely drained. This why I use a measuring cup and fill to near spec and then add a little at the time until to the full mark. Sure save having vacuum the excess when overfilled.

Kawasaki does not recommend any particular oil. That is why there are choices. Kawasaki does suggest 10W40 over SAE30 in the vertical twins for example. 20W50 in the hotter climates for better oil control. The new Pro50 is highly recommended. There is no better oil technology available than this oil.
