I know it depends on age and how it looks and the condition it is in. Looks like people only want to spend between $300.00 and $400.00 for a used mower. They also want it to be in pristine condition. Do any of you guys that sell used equipment have any $300.00 to $400.00 mowers

Hello H.,

Credit card for new equipment versus cash for used equipment? What does that tell you about a population that seldom deals in cash deals these days?

Even if you are set up to take credit cards beware that they can easily dispute the charges and keep a perfectly good machine by claiming that you sold them a bad unit.

Cash sales on used equipment these days is a tough approach.

I will not even sell a good used low hour tested V-twin engine for $400.00.

Here I can't sell for it costs to repair it so I don't even try anymore.

When one for $500 with 90 day warranty and you only get an insult offer of $125 it was time to quit trying.

At the moment, I have more people interested in my old 8HP Snapper series 6 rider (Because of the Forest Gump movie fame), but they still don't want to make me a decent offer. (They only want it for a conversation piece)

Even a nice, reconditioned Husqvarna rider with new belts, tires, blades and spindles will not sell for the parts I have put into it. I'm tired of wasting my money reconditioning equipment.

I am expecting the new equipment market to crash again in the coming years and people will gravitate once again back to good used mowing equipment.

I usually smile and say it's $2000.00 dollars and they leave the idea alone really quick. Someone would want to have it pretty bad for that price.

Kinda tired of people telling me I am too high. They can buy one on FBM for $300 or $400. Yes, some junk some guy cobbled together and they get stuck with it. I go over mine and fix what is wrong with it. Of all the mowers I have sold over the years have only had one give a problem, that was an ignition module went out. Not my fault. I just sold a Husqvarna YTH 24V54 today for way too little. Got it on a trade that I had fixed for a guy that had a broken frame and hydro mounting tabs. Put the kits on it. Ran and cut nice. Working on three Dixie Choppers now. They will sell. Only thing that is selling are the ZTR mowers. Sold two already for what I ask and made good money on them. Have people asking if I have any.

Hello H.,

The only equipment I sell these days are through friend's referrals and dependable word of mouth networking.

I got tired of tire kickers showing up and mostly looking around too much like they were scoping out my shop.

eBay has become useless and Facebook Marketplace usually creates a bunch wasted calls and no-show people.
