Smokes when cold and using the choke!

Yes, filter is doing its job and getting more restrictive with dirt using it. Too restrictive you will notice she is down on power a bit or a couple extra cranks to start for examples. A clogged filter acts the same as having the choke on say half way.

Now use it every mow. Close the fuel off so IF the carb needle and seat fail, you won't have an oil sump full of gasoline diluted oil. That will wreck your engine. Running with gas in the oil. Turns the oil into a water like viscosity.

Sounds a little tight. If YOUR engine manual says so must be true.
 
For a Kawi FH430V, shop manual shows

Valve clearance Intake, Exhaust 0.10 0.15 mm (0.004 0.006 in.)

There are probably a ton of different FH430V's out there. I don't know for sure. This info might be incorrect. Maybe StarTech or one of the others will chime in here to assist.
 
I like the reminders I find on many of the replies I see on the forum

Example

Have you ever pulled the metal engine shroud and cleaned the top of the block and cooling fins? This is a yearly maintenance item in ALL engine manuals. Neglect this and you are looking at engine damage

I think you guys had me in mind!!

After you finish laughing, can someone give me a direction as to where to start!! This is my first carb clean on a larger carb. I have cleaned a simple small carb and it ran okay, I was just lucky.
Sorry can't get the video loaded.
I'm now having surging. I pulled the spark plugs, one is dry and clean the other is wet!!
After finding the mouse house, I replaced the coil ( chewed wire). This was done while I had the carb off.
So, new coil, adjusted valves, from .006 to .004 and took the carb off and ran it through the cleaner.
The carb now has a new float valve. I sprayed carb cleaner in every hole and all seemed clear of dirt.
